Follow these rules, or don't connect to EmechNet
The following list contains the main rules that apply to every EmechNet user. If anyone is caught breaking these rules, they can expect a punishment. Punishments range from a warning to a wide G-line, suspension of the user’s account, suspension of the user’s channel, and even a report to the ISP, depending on the seriousness of the violation.
Clones
Creating excessive clones from your connection or by using proxies is forbidden.
If you need to run more than five clients on your connection, you must acquire a trust, or your clients will be G-lined. Note that customers of some ISPs are only allowed to run two simultaneous connections.
Flooding
Flooding EmechNet servers or other users is forbidden. Flooding includes sending large amounts of text, excessive CTCP requests, rapidly joining and parting channels, or other attempts to disconnect a user or disrupt normal channel activity.
Hacking
Hacking the network or other users is forbidden. This includes DoS attacks and password brute-forcing.
Idlebots
Using bots or clones with no real functionality to artificially boost channel averages is forbidden.
Illegal Material
Distributing or requesting illegal material in our network is forbidden. This includes, but is not limited to, illegal copies of software, pirated MP3 files, movies (VCD/DivX), or any copyrighted material not owned by the user.
Malicious Bots
Connecting bots to EmechNet that break any of these rules is forbidden. This includes Floodbots (flooding/spamming), Clonebots (armies of bots with the same address), Warbots (used to take over channels), and Idlebots (boosting averages without useful functions).
Multiplayer Cheats
Distributing or requesting cheats for multiplayer games is forbidden.
Pornography
Distributing or requesting pornographic or sexual material is forbidden, whether commercial or non-commercial.
Racism & Nazism
Distributing racist or Nazi-related material is forbidden.
Spamming & Advertising
Mass spamming or advertising (promoting websites, products, channels, etc.) in channels or private queries is forbidden.
Spreading Malicious Code
Creating and spreading trojans, viruses, or worms is forbidden.
Takeovers
Taking over a channel is forbidden. However, it is not considered a takeover if:
A) The channel can be recovered with ChanServ or BotServ,
B) The channel’s owner voluntarily gives ownership to someone else,
C) The channel’s owner themselves takes the channel back,
D) The channel is a free-op channel (everyone gets ops) or is otherwise run irresponsibly.
Other
An IRC Operator may take the necessary actions against any user if they see fit.
Use your common sense, and don’t do to others what you wouldn’t want done to you, and you should be just fine.
