EmechNet Update — Major Services & Infrastructure Upgrade

Posted by Abel on Sunday 09 November 2025

The EmechNet IRC Network has undergone a full-scale upgrade aimed at improving reliability, automation, and overall user experience.

⚙️ Core Infrastructure Changes

  • IRCd Migration: We’ve migrated from UnrealIRCd to InspIRCd 4, offering higher performance, modern protocol support, and cleaner module integration.

  • Services Upgrade: Anope IRC Services have been fully updated for better stability, database performance, and new integration features.

  • New Auxiliary Services Server: A dedicated Auxiliary Services node now handles specialised service bots and background tasks.

🧩 New & Updated Network Services

Our auxiliary services system introduces a modular suite of bots—some custom-built specifically for EmechNet:

ServiceName / Function
TTrojan Scan Services — custom-built for EmechNet; actively scans connecting users for known threats and malware signatures
WWebAuth Services — handles IRC↔Web authentication integration
SNetStats Service — collects and aggregates live network statistics
LLimit Service — enforces smart connection and flood limits
HHelp Service — on-network help assistant
AChannel Indexing Service — lists and categorizes public channels
PProxy Scan Services — automatically detects open proxy connections
E / InfoServ / RPGServ / GameServ / StatServExtended support and experimental utilities for network projects

These services will expand dynamically as the network evolves.

🔐 Account System & Registration

  • Nicknames are now account-based. Ownership follows your registered account, not just a nickname.

  • Email registration is now required — this helps prevent abuse, spam, and malicious bot registrations.

  • Web Registration Panel: You can now manage your account directly at services.emechnet.org.

    • Register a new account

    • Reset your password

    • Manage your channels and preferences

🏷️ HostServ Policy

HostServ now automatically assigns a static vHost to all registered users upon login:

yourusername.users.emechnet.org

Custom vHosts are no longer freely available; they will only be assigned in special circumstances.

📊 Network Data & Backend

  • irc2sql has been loaded to collect real-time network information for statistics and reporting.

  • Redis/SQL integration is now active, improving performance for both live data caching and services communication.

🎯 What This Means for You

EmechNet is now faster, smarter, and more secure.
These changes lay the groundwork for future features—integrated dashboards, live stats, and new service automation tools—while keeping our network clean and abuse-free.

Stay tuned for further updates at https://www.emechnet.org
and thank you for being part of EmechNet’s continued evolution.
