Introducing Mjölnir IRC Services — The Next Generation of Services for EmechNET

We’re proud to officially announce Mjölnir IRC Services, EmechNET’s brand-new, next-generation IRC services platform — built from the ground up to be powerful, modular, and future-proof.

Mjölnir isn’t just another services package. It’s the result of years of experience running large-scale IRC networks, combining the best ideas from proven systems and expanding on them with modern design, flexibility, and performance in mind.

A New Kind of Channel Service

At the heart of Mjölnir is an entirely new Channel Service, designed as a powerful hybrid inspired by:

  • Anope’s ChanServ

  • QuakeNet’s NewServ Q (Q9)

  • GNUWorld’s X

This service isn’t a clone — it’s a re-imagining. The goal is to deliver fine-grained access control, rock-solid channel stability, and features that actually reflect how IRC is used today.

Highlights include:

  • Advanced, role-based access levels

  • Channel ownership and delegation models

  • Smart operator recovery and enforcement

  • Flexible flags and permission inheritance

  • Network-friendly behaviour with minimal overhead

All of this is designed to feel familiar to experienced IRC users, while still offering deeper control for power users and channel staff.

A Full Suite of Modular Services

Mjölnir IRC Services is fully modular, meaning each service can be enabled, disabled, or extended independently. This keeps the system lean, fast, and adaptable to the network’s needs.

Included services:

  • P – ProxyScanner (fully revamped and modernised)

  • T – TrojanScanner

  • M – MemoServ

  • O – OperServ

  • C – ChanFix

  • F – FloodServ

  • R – Request Service

  • S – StatsServ

  • H – HelpServ

  • N – NewsServ

  • …and many more

Each module is designed with clarity, performance, and security in mind, avoiding unnecessary bloat while still offering powerful functionality.

Modern Web UI Integration

Mjölnir doesn’t stop at IRC.

A dedicated Web UI is being developed alongside the services, allowing users to manage their presence without ever leaving the browser.

Through the Web UI, users will be able to:

  • Log in securely using their IRC account

  • Edit user and account settings

  • Manage registered channels

  • Configure access lists and permissions

  • Submit and track requests via Request Service

  • View memos, news, and network information

This bridges the gap between traditional IRC workflows and modern usability — without sacrificing the spirit of IRC.

Built for Today’s IRC Networks

Mjölnir IRC Services is designed for maximum compatibility and flexibility.

  • Fully compatible with InspIRCd

  • Fully compatible with UnrealIRCd

  • Clean, modular architecture

  • Highly configurable behaviour per network

  • Designed to scale with EmechNET’s growth

Whether you’re running a tight-knit community or a large, distributed IRC network, Mjölnir adapts to your environment — not the other way around.

The Road Ahead

Mjölnir IRC Services represents a major step forward for EmechNET. It’s not just about features — it’s about control, stability, transparency, and long-term sustainability.

Development is ongoing, with more modules, refinements, and integrations planned. As always, community feedback will play a key role in shaping the final platform.

Mjölnir is coming — and it’s built to last.

Stay tuned for development updates, previews, and release milestones.
